Giovanni Sabatini, with a degree in Economics and Business from Rome’s LUISS University, worked as an untenured professor of Corporate Financial Analysis at the Management Engineering Faculty of Rome’s La Sapienza University from 2009 to 2015.
He began his professional career at Arthur Young & Co. in 1984. After working for CONSOB’s Markets Division, in 2001 he was appointed CEO of Monte Titoli S.p.A., and Chairman of ECSDA.
After being made Director of CONSOB’s Intermediaries Division, between June 2006 and May 2008, he worked as Head of the Legal and Banking Affairs Department at the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
In June 2008, he re-joined CONSOB as Joint General Manager of the Issuers Division, before being appointed General Manager of ABI (Italian Banking Association) in 2009. From 2016, and for two periods of two years, he held the position of Chairman of the European Banking Federation’s Executive Committee.
At present he is also: Chair of the EFB’s Steering Committee for Financing Growth; a member of the European Economic and Social Committee; Vice-Chairman of Bancomat S.p.A.; Vice-Chairman of CBI S.p.c.a.; a member of the board of Fondo Italiano di Investimento; a member of the Italian Corporate Governance Committee; and a member of the Advisory Committee of Borsa Italiana, which he chaired from July 2009 to 2014.
