International presence

 

CBI S.c.p.a. contributes to the technical standardisation activities carried out by several national and international bodies to guarantee that services offered are compliant and to monitor the developments of the major market trends at the European and global level.

For this purpose, CBI takes part in the following working forums:

UN/CEFACT – United Nations Centre for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business – a subsidiary, intergovernmental body of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). At UN/CEFACT, the CEO of CBI serves as Vice Chair for the International Supply Chain Programme Development Area (PDA), overseeing the “Accounting & Audit” and “Finance & Payment” areas. UN/CEFACT’s focus is to facilitate national and international transactions by simplifying and standardising processes, procedures, and information flows, to contribute to the growth in international trade and related services.

ISO TC 68 – Technical Committee for Financial Services of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) – a working group focused on developing technical standards to support the banking and financial sector. The CEO of CBI participates in ISO TC 68 as the Italian UNINFO Delegate and UNECE Liaison Rapporteur, reporting respectively on the developments in the Italian digital payments market and on the activities carried out in the financial services sector by the UN body mentioned above.  Within ISO TC 68, the CEO of CBI is also a member of the Registration Management Group (RMG), the governance body of the ISO 20022 standard.

EPC – European Payment Council – pan-European forum of the payments industry involving several payment service providers. CBI participates in the EPC to promote the standardisation of the payments industry within the SEPA area, to increase competitiveness, innovation, and integration of the European payments market.

Berlin Group – technical standardisation body whose aim is to strengthen the development of an integrated, innovative, and competitive euro retail payments market. Within this forum, CBI actively participates in the activities of the PSD2 and Open Finance task forces.

EBA – European Banking Authority, where CBI is involved in the API working group. The group’s aim is to identify the issues that emerge as the payments industry prepares to adapt to PSD2 and the Regulatory Technical Standards on strong customer authentication and common and secure communication under PSD2 (RTS on SCA&CSC).

CPIComitato Pagamenti Italia (Italian Payments Committee) – institutional cooperation forum supporting the development of the Italian payments market. Chaired by the Bank of Italy, the CPI acts as a hub for collecting and forwarding requests from the Italian financial community to the Euro Retail Payments Board, a body coordinated by the European Central Bank (ECB).

CIPAConvenzione Interbancaria per l'Automazione (Interbank Automation Convention) – an association established in 1968 through the initiative of the Bank of Italy and the Italian Banking Association (ABI), whose aim is to promote interbank automation and to develop relevant initiatives for the banking system in the ICT sector.

UNINFO – national standardisation body for the ICT sector – is a federated body of UNI which, acting on behalf of the latter, represents Italy in the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and promotes and develops standards in the sector of its competence. The CEO of CBI is a member of the UNINFO Board of Directors and represents CBI at the UNINFO General Assembly. CBI also takes part in the activities of the Technical Commission on eBusiness and Financial Services (CT 522).
